When your friend is your biggest supporter
Muhammad Dirham Saeed (50
years old) lives in Dar Sad District in Aden Governorate. He is a father of
three children and had a decent job that enabled him to provide everything his
family needed
One day, in 2015, Muhammad
left his workplace and went to buy groceries for his family, while walking back
home, he stepped on a landmine that exploded in less than a second. He was
immediately rescued and taken to the hospital, but his injury led to the
amputation of his right leg above the knee; This, turned his life upside down.
Muhammad was unable to go to work and support his family as before. He was in
complete despair. Muhammad's closest friend saw him sinking into a serious
depression; So, he was looking for ways to help him start living again. He took
it upon himself to support Muhammad in his ordeal and arranged a visit for him
in the Prosthetic Limb Center funded by KSrelief
There, the center’s
specialists measured his amputated leg, and a prosthetic limb was manufactured
and fitted for him. Muhammad also started rehabilitation therapy and
prosthetics training to increase his confidence and safety in navigating across
different terrains. Consequently, Muhammad was finally able to walk and
practice daily life activities with a lively spirit
