From daily fear to a bright future

Details

Ahmed Ghaleb, 47 years old, lives with his family in Abyan Governorate, Zinjibar District. Ahmed's difficult economic conditions worsened even more when he couldn't meet basic daily needs.

Ahmed says, "Every morning, I get a feeling of fear and sadness knowing that I can't meet basic daily needs. Every morning, I wonder how I can find my family something to eat when I lost my leg?

My story started when a landmine exploded and blew off my leg, preventing me from walking and moving. I spent my days staying at home. One day, one of my neighbors advised me to go to the Prosthetic Limb Center, funded by KSrelief, in Seiyun. The center provides patients with high quality prosthetic limbs for free. Ahmed traveled a 10-hour road trip in a transit bus to the Prosthetic Limb Center in Seiyun. He was examined and his amputated limb was measured, and the technical team worked on crafting the limb perfectly. He was trained for the first time on the new prosthesis and took his first steps with great joy and hope for a better future.

Ahmed returned to his family in Abyan governorate happiness and optimism. Ahmed concluded his speech saying, " This prosthesis means everything to me, and I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to KSrelief for their great support to the Yemeni people."
