RIYADH,
SAUDI ARABIA: King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) signed
a USD five million agreement with the World Food Programme (WFP) to provide
food support to displaced Palestinians in Gaza; the agreement was signed by
KSrelief Supervisor General, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, and the Executive
Director of WFP, Ms. Cindy McCain.
The
food aid provided by the project, in the form of ready-to-eat meals, is
expected to benefit 377,855 displaced Palestinians in Gaza.
Since
the start of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, KSrelief following the directives
of the Kingdom's leadership, launched a fundraising campaign through the
national Sahem platform to provide relief aid to Palestinians.
The
relief aid to Gaza included the delivery of 44 relief planes with more than 800
tons of aid and six relief ships with 5,000 tons of relief supplies, including
medical supplies, food, and shelter aid; the center has also delivered 20 fully
equipped ambulances to Gaza.
KSrelief
also signed four joint agreements with the United Nations Relief and Works
Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), the World Health
Organization, the International Committee of the Red Cross, and WFP, to provide
relief aid to Palestinians in Gaza, with a total of SAR 150 million.
A
recent financial support memorandum was also signed with UNRWA, worth USD 40
million to support its emergency appeal in Gaza.
The
agreement is part of the humanitarian and relief efforts of KSrelief, the
Kingdom's helping hand to the world, in cooperation with international
organizations to help and support Palestinians in Gaza.
