On the sidelines of the recent festival organized by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) presented a seminar entitled: "Intervention to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in the Muslim world." The event took place at the Civil Education Center in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Culture. The inaugural festival, entitled “One Nation and Multiple Cultures...Palestine is in Our Hearts”, was held in Cairo.

Speakers at the seminar included Dr. Yahya Al-Shammari of KSrelief, Ambassador Hassan Abdel Moneim of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Dr. Abeer Atifah of the World Food Program (WFP) and Osama Maher of the World Health Organization (WHO); panelists spoke about their organizations’ partnerships in international humanitarian work.

The Director of KSrelief’s Media and Public Relations Department at KSrelief, Mr. Shalhoub bin Abdullah Al-Shalhoub, stated that the center was participating in the festival to inform the rest of the Islamic member states about the relief, humanitarian and development efforts being made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through KSrelief, which acts as its humanitarian arm. KSrelief, he explained, is carrying on the Kingdom’s long history of providing humanitarian assistance to people in need throughout the world.

Mr. Al-Shalhoub also stressed that part of KSrelief’s mission is to promote humanitarian work in Islamic countries – work which stems from the Kingdom’s desire to convey its values to the world. He added that the center carries out its goals by coordinating international relief work with the cooperation of its many partners to provide support for crisis-affected groups everywhere.

He further pointed out that KSrelief applies established global humanitarian concepts in providing aid impartially to all in need, adding that as of the end of 2018, the center’s assistance has reached 43 countries.

Mr. Al Shalhoub emphasized that KSrelief hoped to share its experience in the humanitarian field with other participating Islamic organizations and countries, and that the center’s work has garnered international praise from United Nations agencies and other humanitarian organizations.

During the seminar, a documentary film was presented describing the Kingdom’s relief and humanitarian efforts and the support provided to affected countries worldwide. The video included data on programs and projects in all of the countries which benefit from KSrelief’s ongoing work.
