Meeting on Project for Protecting and Empowering Women Affected by Gender-based Violence Held in Aden
ADEN, YEMEN: A meeting was held yesterday in Aden on a KSrelief-funded project entitled “Protecting and Empowering Women Affected by Gender-based Violence in Yemen”. King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) funds the project, which is being implemented by the Women's Advisory Committee to the Provost (WACP) in partnership with the UN Women organization.
The project includes building the capacities of targeted groups through a number of programs related to livelihoods and protection. Protection services are being provided for 800 women and girls, and 120 women receive training towards earning vocational diplomas. Seventy trainees also receive specialized equipment to help them start their own businesses.
The General Director of the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation’s branch in Aden, Intisar Murshid, and the Secretary General of WACP, Inshirah Al Jabri, explained that the project will work to empower and protect women living in targeted locations in the areas by providing psychological support and vocational skills training. Intisar Murshid drew attention to the importance of the partnership between the government, civil society organizations and the international community to support abused girls and women and provide them with direct services.
